Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book before coming to my first yoga class?

I recommend booking in advance as classes are sometimes full. You can book your space here. Drop ins are welcome when there are spaces available. If possible try to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the class.

Do I need to bring a yoga mat?

Mats are available to borrow at all my yoga classes. As your practice becomes more regular it would be beneficial to have your own yoga mat for hygiene reasons and so you can practice at home. One of the wonderful things about yoga is that it can be practiced anywhere. All you need is a yoga mat.

What should I wear?

You can wear anything you feel comfortable in, as long as you can move freely.

I’m not very flexible can I do yoga?

Yes, yes, yes! Yoga makes you flexible – if you are very inflexible then yoga will benefit you greatly. Yoga is a’personal’ practice; it is important not to compare yourself to others, or to compete with yourself. Focus on your breathing and in time your body will change. Yoga is about so much more than whether or not you can touch your toes. Come along and see how yoga can benefit you.

How often should I do yoga?

This is largely a personal choice and depends on your lifestyle and priorities. Many people practice yoga just once a week and get a great deal out of it. I think it is better to start gradually and allow yourself to get used to it. Traditionally, Ashtanga Yoga is practiced 5 to 6 days a week. For most people practicing 2 to 3 times a week may be more maintainable. Do what works for you. The more you practice, the more you benefit.

I’m a beginner can I come to your Primary Series class?

My Primary Series classes are open to everyone so yes, please feel free to come if you want a challenge. Yoga is a personal practice, students are allowed and encouraged to rest and modifications are offered for more difficult poses.

I’m not a beginner can I come to your beginner class?

Yes the beginner class is shorter in duration, but just as the poses can be adapted to make them easier, the more experienced student can go deeper into the pose. Sometimes it’s nice to work a little slower or more gently. Please feel free to drop in whenever suits you.
