Ashtanga Yoga Liverpool with Helen Aldred
Hi, my name is Helen Aldred. I have been practicing yoga for fourteen years. It has become a central pillar in my life. I now enjoy teaching yoga to others. I taught for seven years in schools both in Thailand and in the UK. Throughout this time, yoga was there for me. I now combine my greatest passions yoga and teaching, and pass on to others the life-enhancing experience that yoga has been for me. I teach Ashtanga yoga classes in Liverpool.

In 2005, I discovered Ashtanga Yoga, which is now my main practice. I practice Ashtanga Yoga six days a week and find the dynamic style helps to focus my mind and keeps me calm in my day to day life. I have been fortunate enough to study with the founder of Ashtanga yoga Pattabbi Jois and his grandson Sharath both in London and in Mysore, India.

I am a member of the the Yoga Alliance. I have completed the British Wheel of Yoga foundation course and the Yoga Alliance 200 hour teacher training course. I have attended many workshops with teachers such as Brian Cooper, Kino MacGreggor and David Swenson. I continue developing my understanding of yoga and teaching through my own practice, workshops and with my Ashtanga teacher Hamish Hendry in London. Through developing my own practice I am enhancing my awareness and understanding which enables me to teach from the depth of my own experience.
I have also studied Iyengar yoga and Yin Yoga. Although the positions are the same, the approach in these styles of yoga are different. These styles complement each other well, giving me greater choice and understanding both in my own practice and in my teaching. Iyengar Yoga has a particular emphasis on alignment. I enjoy bringing this dimension into my teaching and practice as it enables me to work safely and with integrity. I am currently studying towards an anatomy diploma which allows me to deepen my understanding of the physical dimension of this amazing yoga practice.
